A man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of his grandparents in Walton County, Sheriff Joe Chapman said Wednesday.

The bodies of Charles and Betty Bryant were found at their home in Good Hope, Chapman told Channel 2 Action News.

Their grandson, Andrew Jeremy Bryant, 46, is in the Walton County jail on two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault, Chapman said in a Facebook post.

Andrew Bryant was taken into custody by Greene County deputies after an unrelated traffic chase that ended in Taliaferro County, Chapman told Channel 2.

Bryant lived in the basement of his grandparents’ home, Chapman said.

Chapman said deputies were called to the house by the Bryants' son after he had a conversation with Andrew Bryant, which made the son concerned for the grandparents' safety.

In the conversation, Andrew Bryant said the grandparents were away from home on a trip, Chapman said.

By the time deputies arrived and found the bodies, Andrew Bryant had already left, Chapman said.
