Military families whose lockers were broken into recently might find some solace in knowing the alleged thieves didn’t target members of the armed forces.

Frederick Isiah Woodruff, 18, and Tyreek Butts, 17, both of Atlanta, were arrested Monday in connection with the thefts from last weekend, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

During Military Appreciation Day at Six Flags Over Georgia, which allowed military families free entry into the park on Aug. 20, thieves stole car keys, phones and other items from lockers the families used, Cobb County police previously said.

Pierce said the accused thieves were customers of the amusement park and did not target military families.

“One of the teens said when he opened the locker and saw a military ID, he discarded the items,” Pierce said. “We have no reason not to believe that’s true; they have been cooperating.”

The teens are charged with 10 counts each, five of which are felony charges related to credit card theft. The other five misdemeanor charges each teenager faces relate to theft by taking.
