An Alpharetta man has been jailed without bond in the Birmingham, Ala., area after he allegedly held several officers at bay at a bank, al.com reported.
Authorities said David William Hughes, 29, tried to cash a forged check in Gardendale, Ala., last Friday evening, the newspaper reported. As officers arrived, Hughes ran to the bathroom and climbed into the ceiling to try to avoid arrest.
Authorities used tear gas in an attempt to force Hughes from the ceiling, and he was taken into custody after about three hours, according to the report.
Hughes is wanted in Georgia after he failed to show up for court on an armed robbery charge, the newspaper reported. He is awaiting extradition.
It is not known exactly where in Georgia that Hughes is wanted.
