When he was released from the Cobb County jail earlier this month, Christopher Alan Estes was given back his personal belongings, including the shirt he was wearing when he was arrested.

But instead of his own shirt, Estes, 37, of Marietta, allegedly opted to hang on to a jail T-shirt, according to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office. When he was spotted Wednesday in Woodstock wearing the shirt for inmates one day after being released, he was re-arrested and charged with theft by taking, a misdemeanor, jail records show.

Estes “took the shirt because he said his personal shirt that he wore when he came to the Cobb County Jail was dirty and moldy,” his arrest warrant states. He was re-booked into the Cobb County jail, where he remained Monday.

Estes was denied bond for violating the terms of his probation, booking records show. He was previously arrested in May for failing to meet with his probation officer and make payments due to Cobb County Superior Court, according to a spokeswoman for the court’s clerk.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Estes has served five times in state prisons following numerous drug convictions for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine.
