Hungry Penn State University students looking to grab a burrito found the local Chipotle restaurant shuttered on a recent afternoon.
Customers were greeted by a letter posted on the restaurant's window.
OnwardState posted an image of the letter on Twitter. The letter claims that employees are forced to work in "borderline sweatshop conditions." The letter goes on to say that most of the staff has resigned.
Former Chipotle manager Brian Healy told OnwardState that the restaurant was understaffed, with workers being forced to work 10 to 12 hours straight without a break.
The shutdown lasted most of the afternoon.
Chipotle responded by apologizing for any inconveniences the temporary shutdown caused their customers.
