A man has been arrested after allegedly firing at police officers in Villa Rica, authorities said Saturday.

Lorenzo Crowder, 36, of Carrollton, has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a number of other charges, said Capt. K.L. Shaddix, a spokesman for Villa Rica police.

Shaddix said police were called with a report of shots being fired on Berry Drive about 8 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, police found two men standing by a car while Crowder stood in a nearby wooded area.

Crowder refused to identify himself and produced a gun and turned it on the officers, police say. The police then began firing shots at Crowder, who started running away from officers.

Police were able to locate him in a nearby neighborhood, where there was a brief standoff before Crowder gave himself up. No one was injured.
