Capitol gathering puts focus on childhood obesity
More than 30 organizations converge on the state Capitol on Wednesday for the “United Against Childhood Obesity” campaign. Government officials, business executives and non-profit leaders to discuss programs and initiatives aimed at putting children on the path to a healthier life. Georgia ranks 49th among the 50 states in childhood obesity, with 40 percent of its children, age 10-17, overweight or obese. Only Mississippi has a worse rate. Speakers’ remarks begin at 11:30 a.m. on the south steps of the second floor of the Capitol.
