California Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency for Riverside and Orange counties Thursday where the Holy Fire has scorched more than 10,200 acres of land, KNBC reported.
The fire, which erupted Monday in the counties near Los Angeles, was only 5 percent contained, KABC reported.
Authorities believe the Holy Fire was set intentionally and have arrested Forrest Gordon Clark, who was being held on a $1 million bond, KNBC reported. Clark faces charges of aggravated arson damaging at least five inhabited structures, arson of inhabited property, arson of forest and criminal threats, which are all felonies, the television stations reported.
According to Assistant District Attorney Chris Duff, Clark also faces two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest.
Because Clark refused to leave his jail cell Thursday, his arraignment was postponed until Friday, KNBC reported.
