A female jogger was grabbed and slapped on the buttocks as she passed a man walking on East Ponce de Leon Avenue.

Early Thursday morning, a woman jogging on East Ponce de Leon Avenue was attacked, Decatur police said.

Authorities received a call around 5:46 a.m. that the woman had been running near Glendale Avenue when a man walking past her grabbed her arm and forcefully slapped her on the buttocks, according to a statement from police.

When the woman began to scream, the man released her and casually continued walking, Lt. Jennifer Ross said in the statement.

The jogger described the man as muscular and between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He appeared to be in his 30s.
