A Roswell man is in jail on several charges after a dispute with another man at an apartment complex turned deadly Monday, authorities said.

Joshua McNair, 27, was detained at the Grove Way Apartments following the shooting, according to Roswell police spokesman Officer Sean Thompson.

Officers were sent to the complex after a call about a “weapons incident,” Thompson said.

When officers arrived, a man who had been shot was found unconscious, he said. The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital, where he died.

McNair was formally arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes soon after the man’s death, Thompson said.

The death came after an “ongoing dispute between the now deceased and McNair,” Thompson said. The details of the dispute are not clear.

McNair was taken to the Fulton County Jail, where he remains.

“This is an active investigation and details may change as more information is uncovered,” Thompson said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Roswell police.
