A 45-year-old Ringgold woman was killed Saturday morning on I-75 in Cobb County after the vehicle she was traveling in was sideswiped by another car.

Reba A. McNeece was pronounced dead at the scene and her 50-year-old husband James was transported by air ambulance to Grady Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle that hit them is in jail. Diana M. Stepp, a 47-year-old resident of Satellite Beach, Fla., was arrested at the scene and taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. She has been charged with second degree vehicular homicide and failure to maintain lane. The accident happened around 8:55 a.m.

Police said the McNeeces were traveling southbound on I-75 in the slow lane in a white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck towing a utility trailer loaded with farm equipment. Stepp was driving in the lane next to the McNeeces in a silver 2002 Ford Explorer. She failed to maintain her lane and sideswiped the McNeece’s truck. The truck then veered off the eastern edge of the roadway, overturning in the median.

The 8:55 a.m. accident shut down one northbound and three southbound lanes just south of the Hickory Grove Road overpass in Kennesaw, most of the morning.
