When 9-year-old Sophia Cox was stopped by an unknown man in her neighborhood who offered her candy if she got inside his truck, she said “no thank you” and ran to her friend’s house. Now, police are looking for the suspect, who remains unidentified.

Cox’s mother, Marcella Cox, and her nanny, Shannon King, told Gwinnett County police that the man approached Sophia on Tuesday night as she was riding her hoverboard through Haralson Hills in Lilburn.

Sophia said a man driving a silver pickup pulled up beside her, cracking the driver’s window and saying, “I have candy in the back if you want to get it,” Cox’s mother and her nanny told police.

According to police, the case is active and they have not received any more information on the suspect.
