Atlanta police on Monday were investigating a pair of overnight shootings that left two people dead and another injured.

One of the shootings happened about 11 p.m. at the Daron Village Apartments on Harwell Road in northwest Atlanta, according to police dispatchers.

Channel 2 Action News reported that witnesses told police there was an exchange of gunfire in the breezeway of a building.

Arriving officers found one man with a gunshot wound, and he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

As officers canvassed the complex, they found another man behind a building, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. His name has not been released.

Channel 2 reported that robbery was the apparent motive, but detectives were still trying to determine who was the victim and who was the suspected robber.

The second fatal shooting happened late Sunday night at a home on Ormond Street in southeast Atlanta.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased as 37-year-old Kelsey Thornton of Atlanta.

Police have not released a motive or other details in that shooting.
