Two Marietta women were arrested on suspicion of felony burglary charges after allegedly attempting to rob a house under construction in Mableton, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Latasha Cobb, 35, and Jan Woodward, 48, allegedly kicked down a plywood barrier June 8 to enter the home, according to the victims, who wished to remain anonymous. The suspects began taking construction materials and tools from the house, located in the 1100 block of Old Alabama Road, and placing them in the trunk of a car parked in the driveway.

One of the homeowners, a mother with her children nearby, boxed in the alleged robbers’ car and dialed 911. The two suspects tried to escape before the police arrived, but eventually gave up, according to the news station.

They allegedly lied to the mother, telling her they were “picking up scraps” from what they thought was an abandoned house, the woman’s daughter said.

Both suspects were released on $4,620 bond.
