Gainesville man charged with showing underage girl pornographic video
A Gainesville man is in jail after deputies accused him of inappropriately touching an underage girl and showing her pornography.
Zachery Levi Smith was arrested Thursday after investigators determined he was involved with a girl under the age of 16, Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth confirmed to AJC.com.
Investigators began looking into Smith on Jan. 3 after receiving information from the Division of Family and Children Services, Booth said.
Deputies said between June 2019 and January 2020, Smith showed an underage girl a pornographic video of himself and a woman. He also touched the girl’s inner thigh and exposed himself to her, Booth said.
Hall deputies obtained a warrant for Smith’s arrest Feb. 26 and he was taken into custody at a home in the northern part of the county.
Smith was charged with child molestation and furnishing obscene material to a minor. He was taken to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.
