An Atlanta doctor charged with child molestation and practicing without a license is back in the Fulton County jail, one week after being arrested in Miami, according to police.

Kelly Burton Thrasher, 41, of Sandy Springs, was transported back to Atlanta aboard a commercial airliner without incident, Sgt. Ron Momom with Sandy Springs police said late Wednesday. Thrasher was then transported to the Fulton County jail.

Thrasher was the subject of a nationwide manhunt when he failed to show up for a meeting with detectives to surrender on identity fraud and forgery charges, according to police. Investigators believe Thrasher had obtained a passport under a false name.

Tips led police to a Miami hotel, where they found Thrasher with $30,000. He had been held at the Metro West Detention Center in Miami until he was extradited.

Thrasher is currently under criminal indictment in Fulton County for child molestation following a police investigation in November 2012. In January, he was again arrested and charged by the state medical board with practicing medicine without a license after the board received numerous complaints, police said. Thrasher allegedly was seeing patients in his office in violation of the medical board's suspension of his license pending the disposition of the earlier cases.

Thrasher waived his first appearance at an 11 a.m. hearing today at Fulton County’s Rice Street Jail.
