Two teenage brothers accused of killing a man outside of a gas station after a confrontation about alleged carjacking were indicted by a grand jury late Tuesday.
Charlie McDaniel, 16, and Isaac McDaniel, 15, were indicted on two counts of murder, aggravated assault, gang activity and weapons charges, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Dontaye Carter said.
The brothers are accused of shooting and killing Anthony Brooks, 50, of Atlanta, at a Shell gas station on Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta on Nov. 10.
Brooks had recognized the brothers from previous carjackings at that same gas station, Carter said. When he threatened to call the police on the brothers, he Charlie McDaniel allegedly assaulted Brooks.

The duo then shot Brooks hitting him three times, Carter said. Brooks later died at Grady Memorial Hospital. They left in a stolen red Charger. Gas station surveillance footage captured the incident.
Three days after the shooting, the brothers turned themselves into police at Hunter Hill First Baptist Church. The teens had been arrested at least 16 times in the metro Atlanta area since 2014.
At a press conference in November, Atlanta police said the brothers had more than 100 interactions with police. The teens had been released after each arrest by “juvenile authorities based on a Georgia requirement involving mental incompetency,” Carter said.
At the time of their arrest, police said the teens were allegedly involved in a gang and were not enrolled in school.
