Portions of Oglethorpe University were temporarily closed Wednesday morning while police investigated a suspicious package in the lobby of the admissions office.

The DeKalb County Police Department’s hazardous device team took an X-ray of the package just before noon and determined it was not explosive, Brookhaven police confirmed.

The campus reopened just after noon. Students and faculty were notified about the package during the investigation.

Police did not say what the package was, but authorities told Channel 2 Action News that the manner in which it was dropped off was what raised red flags.
