A driver in an SUV was seriously injured when she collided with a dump truck in Fairburn on Thursday morning and was ejected.
The collision happened at the intersection of John Rivers Road and U.S. 29, Fairburn police Deputy Chief Anthony Bazydlo told AJC.com.
“The driver of the passenger vehicle tried to make a left turn onto U.S. 29 and mistakenly pulled out right in front of the dump truck,” he said.
The SUV driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with what police considered life-threatening injuries.
The dump truck overturned, spilling construction debris on the side of the roadway and a grassy shoulder. The truck driver has minor injuries, Bazydlo said.
The Georgia State Patrol was called in to assist with the traffic investigation, the agency confirmed. There were partial lane closures on U.S. 29 during the investigation, but lanes are now open in both directions.
