A woman was killed Wednesday morning after colliding with a Carroll County school bus head-on, authorities said.

A Ford Explorer driven by Sherry Penn, 53, of Temple, crossed the center line and struck the bus while both came around a curve on Ga. 113 near Spinks Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Penn was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital and later died.

One child was on the bus at the time. Both the bus driver and the child were evaluated by medics at the scene and released, a spokeswoman for the Carroll County School District said.
