The winter that just won't quit rode back into metro Atlanta on Tuesday on brisk winds sent temperatures plummeting nearly 20 degrees below normal by daybreak Wednesday. Here's what people will be talking about as winter makes at least one more stand:

Brrrrrrrr:

Channel 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns is forecasting lows early Wednesday around 28 degrees. The city's normal low for March 26 is 46 degrees.

Subfreezing temps nearly statewide:

A freeze warning is in effect from midnight Tuesday through 9 a.m. Wednesday as far south as Cordele.

Fire danger, too:

The Weather Service early Tuesday warned that brisk winds will combine with low humidity to produce "very dangerous" fire weather conditions.

Snow in the mountains?

Snow flurries popped up across north Georgia early Tuesday evening, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said. Flurries were scattered across Tennessee and North Carolina on Tuesday, and radar showed a few flakes crossing the state line into far north Georgia, but no accumulations were expected in Georgia.

The rest of the forecast:

Afternoon highs will be in the mid-50s Wednesday, about a dozen degrees below normal.

Thursday will be a little warmer, with morning lows in the mid-30s and afternoon highs in the low 60s.

There's a 60 percent chance of rain Friday, along with lows in the low 50s and highs in the mid-60s.
