New details have been released about the stabbing death of a Coweta County man whom authorities say was killed by his son.

Justin Earhart, 31, was arrested and charged with murder for the death of his father after a bloodied machete and a bloodied ax were found at the home in the 300 block of Nectarine Drive.

His 58-year-old father Richard Earhart called Coweta County Sheriff’s deputies for help around 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 13, authorities said.

But, according to the deputy reports, he was disconnected from one of his calls to emergency dispatchers and deputies arrived to find him unresponsive and lying in a pool of his own blood.

Deputies searched the home found Justin Earhart sitting in his room with the machete, according to reports.

They continued their search and found a double-bladed ax that also was covered in blood, authorities said.

A neighbor questioned by investigators said that he’d heard yelling from the Earharts’ home around 5:30 a.m., according to reports.

Justin Earhart remains in the Coweta County Jail without bond, authorities said.
