The showers that made a wet mess of metro roads Monday aren’t expected to linger into Tuesday, but chillier weather is on the way.
“Beneficial rainfall, but it’s gone,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley said.
Temperatures in the early morning hours Tuesday are expected to be in the upper 30s, climbing into the low 50s, Chandley said. That’s about 15 degrees cooler than Monday’s high of 68 degrees.
“We’re looking at some dry weather ahead,” Chandley said.
Monday’s storms caused several wrecks on slick roads and at least one fire sparked by lightning.
In Gwinnett County, a City of Lawrenceville worker was seriously injured when a tree limb fell onto the cab of his truck, Channel 2 reported. The man, whose name was not released, was semi-conscious as the truck continued about 550 feet and struck another truck, resulting in another minor crash.
A lightning strike sparked a small fire at a strip mall in Marietta, but no injuries were reported. Shoppers near the Appliance Smart store on Roswell Road heard a loud boom before firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze.
