A 17-year-old and three youths have been charged with murder a month after a December shooting in southeast Atlanta, police said Monday.
On Dec. 28, Manvel Buckner was found shot in the 1000 block of Martin Street and died from his injuries. He was 49. Buckner was killed in the city’s last deadly shooting of 2020, when Atlanta police investigated 157 homicides.
On Monday, police said Makkel Redding and three other suspects had all been arrested and charged with felony murder. Each suspect was also charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to police. The names and ages of the juveniles were not released.
Investigators have not released details about a possible motive in the case.
“These arrests speak to the dedication and determination of the APD team to catch the bad guys and make Atlanta safer,” APD posted on social media. “The City of Atlanta can rest easier tonight knowing these criminals are behind bars.”
Redding, who lives in Decatur, was being held without bond late Monday, Fulton County jail records show.
