The driver who died after allegedly running a red light Wednesday afternoon in Hall County may have been under the influence of alcohol, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Investigators believe John Keith Morrow was driving a Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Ga. 53 when he ran a red light and drove into the path of a Freightliner, according GSP spokeswoman Tracey Watson. The Freightliner, driven by David Arnold Evans, 53, of Cornelia, was attempting to turn left onto Thurmond Tanner Parkway at the time of the crash, Watson said.

The Freightliner struck the left side of the Chevrolet, killing the Morrow, 49, of Clermont, the GSP said. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor for Morrow, Watson said.

Evans was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical center for treatment.
