Six high school students in Alabama were hospitalized Thursday after consuming drug-laced gummy bears, WKRG reported.
Three male teens, ages 14 to 17, have been arrested and charged with distribution of a controlled substance, police said.
The six students at Alma Bryant High School, all females, were treated and released Thursday evening, WALA reported. The gummy bears are believed to have been laced with a stimulant, police said.
Rena Philips, a spokeswoman for the Mobile County Public School System, said a teacher noticed the students appeared to be “loopy,” WKRG reported.
“There was a problem at Bryant High School that was handled immediately. Students were transported with non-life-threatening concerns to the hospital as a precaution after ingesting an unknown substance,” according to a statement from the school district. “A thorough investigation is being conducted at this time with assistance from the Bayou La Batre Police Department.”
