A second Atlanta police officer in less than a month has resigned from the force after allegedly testing positive for drugs, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Spokesman Carlos Campos said Monday that Kurt Dralle resigned Thursday because of the drug test results.

Another officer, Christopher Kitcho, 34, resigned Aug. 19, after he tested positive for drugs, Campos said. Ten days later, Kitcho, previously assigned to APD's narcotics unit, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, marijuana and a controlled substance and possession of a weapon while in the commission of a crime.

Campos said Atlanta police officers found drugs, anabolic steroids and a rifle when they searched Kitcho’s north Atlanta apartment after he was arrested in DeKalb County for impersonating an officer. Kitcho allegedly showed his APD badge to DeKalb officers questioning him about an alcohol-related citation. Consequently, Atlanta officers went to his apartment to search for any other APD equipment he had not returned.

Kitcho could not be reached for comment and Dralle, who had been assigned to APD’s precinct at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, did not respond to a telephone message seeking comment.

Campos said the two were not randomly drug tested but were tested because officials were suspicious.

“Chief (George) Turner will not tolerate illegal drug use among officers or any employee of the police department, and (he) is prepared to take the appropriate disciplinary actions for anyone who violates those policies,” Campos said in an email.
