With the gunman who shot a Cobb police officer in July still on the loose, authorities Wednesday increased the reward amount to $15,000.

About 1:15 a.m. July 12, Officer D. Rogers was on patrol at the Concord Chase Apartments on Hurt Road when he came across a suspicious man, Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman said at the time. When the man saw Rogers, he ran. At some point during the chase, the man turned around and shot Rogers, who was wearing a bulletproof vest. He was taken to a local hospital, treated and released.

After the shooting, Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta offered up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Wednesday, the National Police Defense Foundation added $10,000 to the pot, Bowman said.

Additionally, a billboard owned by Clear Channel went up at the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Cranfill Road.

“This billboard has been donated at no cost as has the advertisement which was also donated by Mr. Robert Spratlin, the owner of Spratco LLC, which is a local business in Marietta,” Bowman said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 770-499-3945 or 404-577-TIPS.
