Petting zoos, live shows and free-flying carousels will swing back into Marietta on Sept. 23 when the North Georgia State Fair returns to town.

More than 300,000 visitors are expected to descend upon Jim R. Miller Park, located at 2245 Callaway Rd SW, for the annual event, which organizers say is the largest fair event in metro Atlanta.

The 11-day festival runs through Oct. 3. It will feature a variety of attractions, including petting barns, free concerts, live shows, carnival games, competitions, artwork, and an assortment of rollercoasters and fair rides.

The pandemic forced organizers to cancel the long-running state fair last year. This year, attendees are urged to wear masks at the county-owned park, although face coverings are not required.

Admission is $10 at the gate and prices for ride tickets vary. Children ages 10 and under get in free.

Hours of operation are 4-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 4 p.m. to midnight on Fridays; 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays and 12:30-10 p.m. on Sundays.
