The Cobb County Police Department is hosting a “first-of-its-kind” forum March 25 with all six city police departments in the county, the Sheriff’s Office and other public safety departments to discuss public safety.

Police departments in Marietta, Smyrna, Kennesaw, Acworth, Austell and Powder Springs will be attending to engage in discussion topics including active shooter events, police technology, gun safety, and building trust in the community.

Cobb police have held multiple community forums in recent months to talk about emerging technologies, including the use of facial recognition software that was approved by the Board of Commissioners in December.

Attendance is free and lunch will be provided, but tickets are required for entry. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the public safety training center in Austell.
