History: When Roswell resident Tillie O’Neal retired from the corporate world, she set out to find her purpose. “Miss Tillie,” as she is fondly called, decided her mission was to assist women in finding their passion, power and purpose. In 2004, her journey to empowering women toward self-sufficiency began with the launch of Every Woman Works’ Learning Center.

Did you know: To date, Every Woman Works has enhanced the lives of 6,900 children and 2,300 women who have experienced trauma in their lives. The nonprofit’s six-week program focuses on life and job skills, financial empowerment, health and wellness and job coaching. It has a 92% job placement rate.

Its motto: Changing lives daily. Improbable doesn’t mean impossible.

How you can help: Financial donations are used to fund computers, Internet access, MARTA cards and more. Become a mentor or sponsor women by offering job and interviewing skills training or résumé writing. Offer your social media or marketing expertise to get the word out about Every Woman Works.
