Open enrollment for the DeKalb County School District’s School Choice program begins Friday.

Students can apply to special programs for arts, language, leadership, technology and more, regardless of which district schools they’re zoned to attend.

Families can submit applications for their children online until 4 p.m. Feb. 4. They’ll be notified after 5 p.m. on Mar. 25 as to whether they were accepted to their preferred programs via a lottery. Additional lotteries will determine placement in second and third choices depending on available space.

Current students need their student ID number and parent’s email address to apply. New, private or home-school students need a parent’s email address, proof of residence, birth certificate, fall 2020 report card and an affidavit of residence form. Some special programs require additional applications, test scores, interviews or auditions.

The district will accept late applications until Aug. 31, but those applications will be processed based on space after wait lists are exhausted.
