Friday night recap

The ranked teams proved again why they have all been highly touted this season after outscoring region competition 305-33 in the next-to-last week of the regular season.
Here are some of the highlights from Friday play:
-- Top-ranked Calhoun had little trouble with Haralson County after taking a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, 34-6 at the half. Gavin Gray passed to Luke Moseley to open scoring with 8:00 left in the first quarter. Bralin Barton's 4-yard run put the Jackets ahead 14-0. Gray passed to Clemson commitment Brannon Spector to increase the lead to 20-0 after a failed two-point conversion. Zack Fuller scored on a short run with 4:00 left in the first half to take the Calhoun lead to 27-0. Just before the half, Spector returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to give Calhoun a 34-6 lead.
-- Peach County and Westside-Macon both won – Peach over Jackson and Westside over Pike – to set up a region championship matchup next week in Fort Valley. Peach County rushed for seven touchdowns against Jackson. The Trojans have 31 rushing touchdowns on the year. Westside moved past Pike County 42-9 on the road.  
-- Westminster defeated Stone Mountain to take second place in the Region 5 race behind No. 2 Cedar Grove and ahead of No. 10 Pace Academy.
-- Benedictine (record) leads Region 3 Southeast Bulloch (8-1, 6-1) and Jenkins (7-2, 6-1) following its 55-0 demolition of Beach on Friday. The Cadets will face Jenkins in the final regular-season game.
-- No. 9 Dawson County (8-1, 4-1) is tied with North Hall (8-1, 4-1) for second in Region 7, and the two programs will meet on Friday. GAC leads the region and will play the possible No. 4 seed, Fannin County, on Friday.
-- No. 10 Pace showed out in its final regular season game, defeating Towers 67-14. Pace is currently third in the Region 5 race.

4. (4) Peach County (7-2, 5-0) – Defeated Jackson (5-4, 3-2) in a Region 4 game, 42-3.

5. (5) Westminster (6-3, 4-1) – Beat Stone Mountain (2-7, 2-3) in a Region 5 game, 21-0.

6. (6) Greater Atlanta Christian (7-2, 5-0) – Off this week. Plays at home against Fannin County (4-5, 3-2) in a Region 7 game on Friday.

7. (7) Benedictine (8-1, 7-0) – Beat Beach (3-6, 3-4) in a Region 3 game, 55-0.

8. (9) Dawson County (8-1, 4-1) – Beat Cherokee Bluff (0-10, 0-6) in a Region 7 game, 41-7. 

9. (8) Jefferson (8-2, 5-1) – Beat Jackson County (2-7, 0-5) in a Region 8 game, 38-3.

10. (10) Pace Academy (6-4, 4-2) – Beat Towers (0-9, 0-5) in a Region 5 game, 67-14.
