Shelton Felton, Crisp County
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "In high school it was 1995 vs. Cairo. We beat them to go the Dome. In college in 2001, we [Troy State] upset Mississippi State. As a coach, it has to be the 2014 state championship game vs. Archer. [Crisp County was 12-2 in 1995, beat Cairo 25-13 in the quarterfinals and lost to Cedar Shoals in the Class AAA semifinals at the Georgia Dome. Shelton was a defensive line coach at Colquitt County in 2014, when the Packers defeated Archer 28-24 in the Class AAAAAA title game.]
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "I would love for my boys to play for me, but If I had to pick someone else, it would be Rush Propst. This man makes players believe they can do anything, and he runs his program like a D-I college."
3. What is your pet peeve as a coach or favorite saying/motto? "Quote: 'Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games.' Motto: '1 Mind 1 Heart 1 Team 1 Grind.' Pet peeve: Players walking! At no time a player should walk on the field."
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "I would like to really look at the transfer rules. It's hard when you're in a small town and big schools come in and steal your four- and five-star players. I'm OK with a player moving to better themselves, but if you're already a five-star with all the offers, why are you moving?"
