Fellowship Christian’s Hurley runs nation’s fastest 1,600 meters at Coaches Invitational; Other top performances from the weekend

Fellowship Christian senior Emma Grace Hurley posted the nation’s leading time in the 1,600 meters over the weekend at the Coaches Invitational, hosted by Pope.
Hurley won the event in a time of 4:46.0, a full five seconds faster than the previous national leader. Hurley is the defending Class A state champion in the 3,200 meters and was the runner-up in the 1,600.

Hurley was not the only athlete to turn in a nationally competitive performance at the Coaches Invitational. Walton freshman Tia Jones posted the nation’s second fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.31, just .04 off of the national leader.

The Coaches Invitational also produced state-leading performances in the 3,200-meter relay (South Forsyth; 9:37.01), long jump (Alexis Farley, Starr’s Mill, senior; 19-feet, 8-inches), triple jump (Brianna Isles, Brookwood, senior; 40-0), pole vault (Carson Dingler, First Presbyterian Day, junior; 13-3), and shot put (Nia Seldon, Marietta, senior; 42-10.75).
Cassandra Hall, a senior at Warner Robins, ran the state’s top times in the 100 (11.55) and 200 (23.95) meters at the Colonial Bank Fitzgerald Invitational, hosted by Fitzgerald.
Makenzie Dunsmore, a senior at McEachern, ran a state leading 53.79 in the 400 meters at the Bob Hayes Classic in Jacksonville.
Anna Marian Block, a sophomore at Athens Academy, posted the state’s top time thus far in the 800 meters with a 2:21.69 at the Loch Johnson Invitational at Cedar Shoals.
Chelsea Igberaese, a junior at Dacula, is the state leader in the discus after her throw of 138-11 at the Tiger Creek Relays at Archer.

Lambert senior Jonathan Schwind ran a state leading 4:12.25 in the 1,600 meters at the Coaches Invitational at Pope.
Milton’s 3,200-meter relay team ran the state’s fastest time, 7:57.25, at the Coaches Invitational.
Quazon Alkhaliq, a senior at Maynard Jackson, posted the state’s top triple jump mark thus far with a leap of 47-7.5 at the Fifth Annual Gary Townsend Invitational at Drew.
Mitt Conerly, a senior at Central-Carrollton, vaulted 15-4 to lead the state at the Coaches Invitational.
Ryan Camp, a senior at Archer, claimed the state’s top spot in the discus with a toss of 192-0 at the Tiger Creek Relays.
