Delta Air Lines said it will delay Tuesday night flights in Gulfport, Miss. and Mobile, Ala. until Wednesday morning.

Atlanta-based Delta is making the move in anticipation of strong crosswinds, with th expectation that Tropical Storm Gordon will intensify into a Category 1 hurricane by the time it hits the Gulf Coast on Tuesday night.

The flights will be delayed until Wednesday morning “pending an assessment of facilities and area infrastructure,” according to Delta.

The airline said it doesn't anticipate disruptions in New Orleans, Destin or Pensacola, but continues to track the storm, which could also cause flooding.

Delta is waiving certain change fees for passengers with flights booked into certain affected airports who want to change their travel plans.
