On the other side of a cold front Wednesday, North Georgia can look forward to several days in the sun.

The front produced a few showers Tuesday and is responsible for the cooler start Wednesday morning, but it has also set up the region for a clear sky this afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.

“You’re going to have nothing but sunshine in the forecast today,” he said. “It should be a really nice Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday look pretty good as well.”

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist suggested grabbing a jacket on the way out the door Wednesday, but it won't be needed this afternoon with a projected high of 76 degrees.

While a few more clouds are expected to build in by the end of the week, Monahan said temperatures will also increase. Atlanta is predicted to reach 76 degrees Wednesday, 78 degrees Thursday and clear 80 degrees Friday, according to the latest forecast.

Monahan said those temperatures are about where we should be this time of year, “and we’re going to do that with a lot of sunshine.”

Before North Georgia can enjoy a warm afternoon, it has to get through a chilly morning first. Most of metro Atlanta is starting Wednesday in the 40s, and some spots in the mountains could dip into the 30s before the sun comes up.

There is no rain in the forecast Wednesday or Thursday, but a slight 10% chance of a shower is in Friday’s forecast.

“A better chance of a shower over the weekend,” Monahan said. “Not a washout, but there will be some showers around on Saturday, also on Sunday as well.”

Atlanta's projected high is 76 degrees Wednesday.
