Heat and humidity are in Tuesday’s forecast for all of North Georgia, but not everyone will see rain.
Showers and storms will be scattered Tuesday afternoon, with a 40% chance of development, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.
“Take the umbrella, especially if you live north of I-20 or are traveling north of I-20,” he said. “That’s where our storm chances will be highest today. Southside, we look pretty good. Should stay mainly dry today.”
With highs around 90 degrees, the entire region is in for a hot Tuesday afternoon. Monahan is not expecting any rain for the morning drive, just a little sun glare. Showers and storms could begin to fire up around lunchtime and become scattered north of Atlanta by 4 p.m.
“By this evening, showers and storms will settle down,” Monahan said. “Tomorrow is going to be a whole lot drier for all of us.”
With a 20% chance of an isolated shower Wednesday, temperatures could rise into the low 90s. Wednesday’s projected high is 93 degrees, and even less rain and higher temperatures are in store Thursday.
That’s good news for the thousands of metro Atlanta students looking to fill their final week of summer vacation with fun in the sun. For some of the region’s largest school districts, school is back in session Monday.
“We’re going to get some pretty good weather for outdoor activities tomorrow, and also on Thursday,” Monahan said. “Hot, it’s summertime after all, but it is going to be pretty dry for us.”
Scattered rain returns to the forecast for the weekend, he said, with a 40% chance of thunderstorms Friday and a 60% chance on Saturday.
