A woman was killed in a fiery multivehicle crash in Clayton County that caused major delays for I-285 commuters Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the wreck in the eastbound lanes near Old Dixie Road around 6:10 a.m. and found a woman dead on the interstate, Clayton police spokesman Johnny Carroll said from the scene. The woman’s name was not released.

Another person was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

At least one vehicle went up in flames, Carroll said. The charred SUV could be seen on the left shoulder of the interstate Wednesday morning.
