Continuing to mix things up, I thought I’d do a look-ahead to Georgia State’s August camp in a different format, A-to-Z:
I’ll continue to post one letter a day on the blog for the next 26 days:
Today is …
U is for UAB
Six players from the off-again, on-again football program transferred to Georgia State during the window in which the Blazers program was shut down.
Those six were:
- Safety Bobby Baker
- Cornerback DeMarco Davis
- Center Kelepi Folau
- Wide receiver Nyiakki Height
- Running back Demarcus Kirk
- Linebacker Alonzo McGee
Baker, who is recovering from a season-ending injury, and McGee (42 tackles) were solid players for the Blazers and should be penciled in for starting spots on Georgia State’s defense.
Height had 17 catches for 136 yards last year and should challenge for playing time in a deep group of receivers.
Folau seems to be slotted in as the starting center on the line.
Davis and Kirk will also challenge playing time.
Their experience and size should immediately help Georgia State this year as it attempts to improve upon last year’s 1-11 record.
Georgia State A to Z so far
T is for turnover margin
S is for sacks
R is for Ruiz
