The temperature Thursday was roughly 10 degrees cooler than Wednesday, which saw heavy storms and a tornado south of Atlanta.

The National Weather Service confirmed a category EF-0 tornado hit Meriwether County about 1:15 p.m. during Wednesday’s storms. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for the region during the time, Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said. The tornado destroyed a fruit stand, barn and garage. Two homes also sustained minor damage, Channel 2 reported.

Winter began at 11:28 a.m., but you likely won’t feel colder temps until Christmas Day, according to the news station

The expected high Monday is 47 degrees.

In the meantime, look forward to above-average highs and rain through the weekend.

The current forecast calls for highs of 61 Friday, 67 Saturday and 57 Sunday. The average high for this time of year is 53 degrees.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain Friday, but expect to be drenched Saturday when rain chances are at 90 percent, according to Channel 2. And Christmas Eve could bring additional showers.
