After a week of storms that uprooted trees, knocked out power and altered thousands of travel plans, the weekend weather forecast looks good.

“It is going to be a perfect weekend across North Georgia,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. “Haven’t we earned it.”

The brisk weather Saturday morning in metro Atlanta should give way to an afternoon high of 70, Monahan said. Sunday’s high is forecast at 76. No rain is expected.

Monahan said skies will be staying dry through Monday.

Winds also are calming from the recent bluster and should be in the range of 5 to 10 mph.

About 5:30 p.m., temps were at 69 in Atlanta, 72 in Griffin and 67 in Blairsville.

Beautiful and sunny for your Saturday afternoon
