The sunshine and pleasant weather won’t leave metro Atlanta anytime soon.

It’s 72 degrees in Atlanta, down from a high of 79, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The average high for this time of year is 71.

“Warm weather has taken over the Southeast,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

“The air is very dry and humidity will bump up over the next few days,” meteorologist Brian Monahan added.

Here's Severe Weather Team 2's Brian Monahan with a look at your Monday evening forecast.

Metro Atlanta, which saw multiple rounds of severe storms last week, is expected to get a break from the wet weather.

“Later in the week, we’ll see a chance for some rain,” Minton said.

But there’s no wet weather in sight for Monday, meaning no showers to help clear pollen.

The count is up from 360 particles per cubic meter of air Sunday to 830 Monday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.

While far short of last year’s season high of 4,107, Monday’s pollen count was higher than it was this time last year, which was 599.
