ATLANTA FORECAST

Today: Clouds and some sun. High: 87

Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies. Low: 69

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly cloudy. High: 85

Even as Tropical Storm Harvey dumps inches of rain on southeast Texas, the weather forecast for metro Atlanta continues in dry mode.

“Really, there’s just some clouds in metro Atlanta today,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said Saturday morning.

The usual summer heat may not be a factor during the weekend, either. Monahan said breezy weather should keep temperatures slightly below average.

After a high of 87 on Friday, the forecast is for the same Saturday. Sunday should cool off more, with a high of 85 expected.

There’s no rain in the forecast for metro Atlanta on Saturday and Sunday.

That’s certainly not the case in southeast Texas, where Harvey made landfall early Saturday. It was downgraded to a tropical storm in the afternoon.

“The flooding threat (in southeast Texas) is going to be enormous,” Monahan said, with as much as 30 inches of rain expected to fall by Wednesday.

In metro Atlanta, temps were at 84 shortly before 5 p.m.
