A cold front moving into Georgia from the Midwestern U.S. should keep temperatures out of the 90s over the next several days.
High temperatures in the metro area are expected to remain in the upper 80s, at least through Wednesday, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
The expected high on Sunday is 89 degrees, with the morning’s muggy weather giving way to isolated showers as the cold front moves in.
Channel 2 Action News forecasts a 40 percent chance of showers, with the likelihood of isolated storms increasing as the day wears on.
Through Wednesday, the lows in the metro area are forecast to be in the upper 60s and low 70s. The coolest weather in the state will be in the North Georgia mountains where lows should be in the 50s, Monahan said.
Temperatures were 77 degrees in Atlanta, 76 degrees in Blairsville and 78 degrees in Griffin just after 3 p.m.
