The city of Atlanta said it would open an additional emergency warming center Sunday as temperatures struggled to rise above the 30s.

The city announced it would open the Central Park Recreation Center at 4 p.m. after the Old Adamsville center reached capacity.

It's been an unusually cold January for Atlanta. The cold is especially dangerous to the city's homeless population.

Temperatures could reach the upper 40s on Tuesday with a 30 percent chance of snow/showers before a “bitterly cold front” sets in Wednesday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.
