A Delta Airlines plane heading from Orlando to New York’s JFK Airport had a close call with a drone Friday, said an official with the airline and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The crew reported an airborne object near the path to the runway at JFK.
The MD-88 plane, which had 159 people on board, was able to land safely.
The FAA said the drone was seen near the right wing at 1,700 feet.
The pilot did not take any evasive action.
