Gone intros used tech marketplace, Manhattan concierge service

Gone, a San Francisco app startup that offers to help you get rid of items you want to sell either with ship-to-them boxes or a fee-based concierge service, is expanding concierge to Manhattan and launching a second-hand electronics storefront called Marketplace.
Currently, the company's concierge service, in which a representative meets in-person with a seller, is available in San Francisco, Austin and Seattle, in addition to the new Manhattan market.
Perhaps of more interest to Austin users will be the Marketplace, which will sell second-hand electronics that have been inspected and approved for quality, the company said in a press release.
That puts it on competition with popular electronics sites such as Gazelle and NextWorth, which also offer money to those selling iPhones, tablets and other devices. At one time, the company offered to donate items it could not sell, typically with a fee attached for pickup, but that no longer seems to be part of the business.
My own experiences with Gone were not that great at launch, but the company did well enough to expand to other cities last year after its initial Austin and San Francisco start. Gone got its start in Austin as a graduate of Techstars. Startup Accelerator.
