The Minnesota Vikings announced early Wednesday that they have put running back Adrian Peterson on the exempt-commissioner's list, meaning he must stay away from all team activities as he faces child-abuse charges, The Associated Press reports.
The Vikings previously had said Peterson could play.
Peterson was indicted by a grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child on Friday. Multiple media sources reported that the charges stem from Peterson disciplining his son with a switch.
Additionally, ESPN reported Monday that Peterson was accused in a separate incident involving another son, but no charges were filed.
