After the Atlanta Hawks traded for guard Trae Young during the 2018 NBA Draft, Young posted a video message to his new fan base.

The Dallas Mavericks drafted Young fifth-overall Thursday, but traded the former Oklahoma guard to Atlanta for a 2019 first-round draft pick and Luka Doncic, the third-overall pick.

“Can’t wait to get out to Atlanta and y’all get to meet me and I get to meet some of y’all,” Young said. “I’m so excited. See y’all in Atlanta.”

In his freshman year at Oklahoma, Young shot 42.2 percent from the field and averaged 27.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.7 steals.

Young later posted a photo of himself in his new Atlanta Hawks snapback on Instagram with the caption, "And my (New Era Cap) makes it official!! Excited to be apart of the ATLANTA HAWKS".
